When people are deciding to plan a vacation, many will opt for the option of visiting a tropical destination where they can hang out poolside the whole time. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with that (we love a good pool), there are a lot of options out there that you can branch out to as well. If you’re looking for a more unique experience, perhaps you should consider going on a safari adventure. There are so many incredible landscape and plenty of awe-inspiring wildlife sighting opportunities while you go on safari. Africa is home to a significant amount of safari options, so here are some regions you can choose from.

Meno A Kwena

One of the many upsides of visiting Botswana is the fact that the country boasts over 300 days of sunshine per year! The time of year you visit will dictate which wildlife you’ll be able to see, but no matter when you go, you’ll be guaranteed to have a fantastic time.

For a very remote experience, you can stay at Sable Alley, which can be found in Khwai Private Reserve,  one of the most diverse habitats in the country. If you’re still craving a poolside vacation, this is the perfect place to be able to do that.

For a less luxurious option that is more affordable, Meno a Kwena is another great option, as it is located right on the Boteti River.

The best time to visit Kenya is from late June to October. For an old world experience, you can try out Cottar’s 1920s Safari Camp in Kenya. With incredible rooftop decks, you’ll be able to take in the gorgeous sights of the lush landscapes.

For those who enjoy living the high life, you can head to the Maasai Mara, where you’ll be able to check out Sir Richard Branson’s Mahali Mzuri private camp. It is just as luxurious and exclusive as you could imagine.

Of course, the Safari Collection’s Giraffe Manor is known as one of the most popular attractions, and with good reason! It is certainly a surreal experience to go through, in the best way possible. Located right outside of Nairobi, you could make a 2 day trip out of it and stay overnight.

If you’re planning to visit Namibia, the best time to plan the trip is for anytime in June through August. Namibia offers incredible landscapes that are a bit different from other places in Africa. Here you can see open deserts that span for miles.

If you’re looking where to stay, you can try the Wolwedans Dune Lodge. Make sure to take a road trip when you come here in order to take in all of the incredible and varied landscapes that this beautiful country is home to. Of course, you must also check out the Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp while you’re here.

If you want to head to South Africa for a safari trip, the best time to do so is winter, which spans from May to September. For an incredible experience, visit the Lion Sands Ivory Lodge and Treehouses, where you can rent out a treehouse under the stars. Make sure you visit Kruger National Park, and you can stay in the area at the Royal Malewane.

You absolutely must do everything in your power to see the Big Five: African elephants, African lions, African leopard, Cape buffalos, and rhinoceroses. To do so, you can visit the Gondwana Game Reserve.

For a luxurious safari lodge experience, one of the best is Cheetah Plains, which is located right by Kruger National Park and offers incredible wildlife sightings.
