Manila, Philippines – The National Police Commission (Napolcom) has formally initiated an investigation into the series of disappearances of individuals involved in online cockfighting, commonly known as 'sabungero,' following mounting reports suggesting potential involvement of police officers. According to Napolcom Vice Chairman Rogelio Casiano, the commission deemed it necessary to launch its own probe due to the volume of reports indicating possible police complicity. “Dahil kaliwa’t kanan na yung report na merong involved na pulis na kailangan na naming,” Casiano stated, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. (Due to the reports coming from all sides that there are police involved, we need to act now.)

The Napolcom investigation will run parallel to the Philippine National Police's (PNP) own inquiry. This dual-track approach aims to ensure a comprehensive and impartial examination of the cases.
