ScotRail is taking a significant leap forward in passenger experience by piloting satellite-powered Wi-Fi on its trains. This groundbreaking six-month trial leverages the innovative technology of Starlink, Elon Musk’s low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network, to provide reliable internet access across the Scottish Highlands.

The trial, currently underway, involves six trains operating in the north of Scotland. These trains are equipped with specialized hardware designed to connect to the Starlink constellation, offering a potential solution to the challenges of providing consistent internet connectivity in remote and rural areas.
