Breaking the Silence: The Hidden Mental Health Crisis Among Ministers
Christianity Today

A staggering number of American pastors are secretly struggling with mental health issues, including loneliness, isolation, and depression. According to recent statistics, nearly half of ministers, approximately 47 percent, report feeling lonely or isolated, while a majority self-report experiencing feelings of depression. Moreover, a significant 65 percent of pastors admit to not seeking professional help from a therapist, counselor, spiritual advisor, or mentor, highlighting a critical need for support and resources. This mental health crisis among ministers is a pressing concern that requires attention and action, particularly in the context of mental wellness, pastoral care, and faith community support. By acknowledging and addressing these issues, we can work towards creating a more supportive and inclusive environment for ministers to prioritize their mental health and wellbeing.
