Saifuddin Nasution: PKR Elections Fair, No Money Politics Involved
GEORGE TOWN: Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, the former secretary-general of PKR, has firmly refuted claims of money politics influencing the recent party elections. Speaking to reporters, Saifuddin asserted that PKR remains committed to its founding principles of integrity and democratic processes, emphasizing a level playing field for all candidates.
The denial comes amidst ongoing discussions and scrutiny surrounding the PKR polls, with some quarters raising concerns about potential irregularities. “PKR has always championed a democratic and transparent electoral process. We have systems in place to monitor and prevent any form of misconduct, including money politics,” Saifuddin stated. He further elaborated that the party’s election committee diligently oversees the entire process, from candidate nominations to vote counting, to guarantee the integrity of the results.
Saifuddin highlighted the party’s dedication to upholding its values, even amidst the intense competition often seen in political elections. He acknowledged that while enthusiasm and campaigning efforts can be vigorous, PKR is steadfast in its commitment to ethical conduct and ensuring that decisions are made based on merit and the will of the members.
“The passion and dedication of our members are commendable, but it’s crucial that we maintain a level playing field and adhere to the principles of fairness and transparency. We will not tolerate any actions that compromise the integrity of our democratic process,” he emphasized.
He also reiterated PKR's commitment to addressing any legitimate concerns raised by members or observers. “We are always open to feedback and will thoroughly investigate any credible allegations of wrongdoing. The recent PKR elections saw a significant level of participation and engagement from grassroots members, underscoring the party’s vitality and its continued relevance in Malaysian politics. Saifuddin’s assurance further reinforces PKR’s commitment to democratic principles and its dedication to a clean and transparent electoral process. This commitment is seen as vital for maintaining public trust and ensuring the party's long-term stability and success.
