Govt Warns: MyKad Abuse for RON95 Subsidy Risks Jail, RM20k Fine
PETALING JAYA: The government has issued a stern warning to Malaysians against allowing others to utilise their MyKad to claim RON95 petrol subsidies. The Ministry of Finance clarified that such actions constitute a serious offence, carrying potential penalties of imprisonment and a fine of up to RM20,000.
This warning comes as authorities intensify efforts to combat subsidy fraud and ensure the RON95 fuel subsidy reaches legitimate recipients. The subsidy, intended to alleviate the financial burden of motorists, is currently targeted towards vehicles registered before 2021 and those with engines of 2,000cc or less.
