Mumbai: The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has escalated its protest against the upcoming Punjabi film 'Sardaarji 3,' writing a strongly worded letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding immediate action to halt its release. The federation alleges that the film contains content that is a “willful affront to the sovereignty and dignity of India,” sparking widespread controversy within the Indian film industry and among patriotic citizens.

The letter, addressed to PM Modi, specifically names actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh, producers Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmord Sidhu, and director Amarjit Singh Sarkaria, holding them accountable for what FWICE deems a disrespectful portrayal of India and its culture. The federation’s outrage stems from perceived derogatory depictions and potentially harmful messaging within the film, which they believe undermines national pride.

FWICE, representing over 50,000 film workers across Western India, has previously issued warnings and attempted to engage with the filmmakers directly. However, their concerns have apparently gone unaddressed, leading to this drastic measure of appealing to the Prime Minister's office. The federation’s president, B.N. Tiwari, stated that the repeated attempts to resolve the matter amicably have failed, leaving them with no other option but to seek governmental intervention.

“We are deeply concerned and saddened by the content of 'Sardaarji 3,'” Tiwari asserted. “It is imperative that such films, which potentially incite disharmony and disrespect our nation, are not allowed to be released. We believe this film crosses a line and undermines the values we hold dear as Indians.”
