The Hindu

Despite concerns over a potential surge in respiratory illnesses, the Union Health Ministry has reported no significant increase in cases. However, as a precautionary measure, the Ministry has advised states to strengthen awareness campaigns on preventive measures against Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), a common cause of respiratory infections. Additionally, states have been urged to enhance surveillance of Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI) to effectively manage and prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses. By promoting awareness and enhancing surveillance, the Government aims to mitigate the risk of respiratory illnesses and protect public health. With the rise of infectious diseases, it is essential to stay informed about the latest health trends and take preventive measures to stay safe. By prioritizing health awareness and surveillance, India can reduce the burden of respiratory illnesses and promote a healthier community.
