Ukrainian drone firm UDD Tech selects Ohio for US expansion

Ukrainian drone manufacturer UDD Tech is expanding its operations into Lucas County, bringing battlefield-tested technology to the United States.
Strategic move to Ohio
UDD Tech, a specialist in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) production, has confirmed plans to establish a presence in Lucas County. The company aims to leverage the region's industrial infrastructure to manufacture and deploy advanced drone systems within the American market.
The expansion follows increasing interest from US defence sectors in hardware that has undergone extensive real-world testing. Unlike prototype technologies, UDD Tech's product line has been utilised in active conflict zones, providing a unique data set for performance and durability under extreme conditions.
Battlefield-tested technology
The core appeal of the Ukrainian firm lies in its ability to produce equipment that has survived the rigours of modern electronic warfare. The technology focuses on several key operational areas:
- Resilience to jamming: Systems designed to maintain connectivity in signal-denied environments.
- Rapid iteration: The ability to update hardware and software quickly based on frontline feedback.
- Cost-effective mass production: Manufacturing processes capable of scaling to meet high-volume demand.
Industry analysts suggest that the arrival of UDD Tech in Ohio represents a broader trend of transferring combat-proven expertise from Eastern Europe to North American manufacturing hubs.
Economic and defence implications
The relocation of production capabilities to the United States is expected to create specialised technical roles within the Lucas County workforce. This move aligns with domestic efforts to bolster the local defence industrial base and secure supply chains for unmanned systems.
US military and private security interests have increasingly prioritised the acquisition of drone technology that can withstand sophisticated electronic countermeasures. By moving production to Ohio, UDD Tech can more directly collaborate with US partners to customise systems for domestic and allied requirements.
While specific production volumes and facility locations within the county remain under development, the project marks a significant intersection between international conflict experience and American industrial capacity.
