Former WCW and NWA star Marcus “Buff” Bagwell is sharing his incredible story of resilience and recovery after undergoing an above-the-knee amputation. “I was involved in a pretty bad car wreck back in 2020,” Bagwell told Wrestling Inc.. “It really messed up my kneecap. For five years, I couldn’t bend it. It was just a constant source of pain and frustration.”
The severity of the injury led to difficult decisions. While amputation was immediately considered, Bagwell and his medical team fought to preserve his leg. “Amputation was on the table, I think, instantly, but we tried to save the leg,” he explained. “We did everything we could, but ultimately, it wasn’t enough.”

He’s been focusing on rehabilitation and adapting to his new reality, and the results are inspiring. “Now, honestly, I feel like I’ve gained two legs,” he said with a smile. “It sounds crazy, but it’s true.
